School Holiday Camps
Give your young shredder a fantastic mountain bike experience over the school holiday at our two-day mountain bike camps!
We're offering two types of camp, one for novice riders and one for intermediate riders. Each camp will feature the perfect blend of skills work, trail riding, obstacle riding, games ... and FUN! All designed to improve your child's mountain biking skills whilst having a blast.
This is for riders aged 7-13 who are relatively new to mountain biking and can already ride, pedal and have basic control of a bike. We will focus on teaching and refining their fundamental skills such as body position, braking control, balance, use of gears, climbing and descending techniques, and an introduction to riding obstacles. We will also spend a good deal of time on the trail putting this all into practice. Please see the Skills Competency section to determine if this clinic is suitable for your child.
Camp 1: Monday 4 & Tuesday 5 January 2021, 8.30am - 2.30pm - FULL
Camp 2: Monday 11 & Tuesday 12 January 2021, 8.30am - 2.30pm
This is for confident riders aged 7-13 who have better than basic MTB skills, and can ride 95% of the easier lines/obstacles and are eager to challenge themselves and try new, more difficult terrain. We'll spend time fine-tuning existing skills with drills and use of our custom-built wooden obstacles and jumps, and will spend lots of time on the trail putting it all into practice. Please see the Skills Competency section to determine if this clinic is suitable for your child.
Camp 1: Wednesday 6 & Thursday 7 January 2021, 8.30am - 2.30pm - FULL
Camp 2: Monday 18 & Tuesday 19 January 2021, 8.30am - 2.30pm - FULL
Manly Dam & surrounds, Sydney, NSW
What your child will need to bring:
Mountain bike that is mechanically sound and clean. This is really important, as if we find your child’s bike to be unsafe or not suitable, we won’t be able to allow them to ride, which would be disappointing for everyone!
Bike gear - helmet (Australian Standards AS/NZS 2063 approved), gloves (if you have them), shoes, sunnies
Spare tube that is compatible with your child's bike
Water, lunch and snacks - they will need to carry these with them while riding
Small group tuition - coach to participant ratio 1:6, ensuring plenty of attention for everyone
A fantastic opportunity to get outdoors, learn some bike skills, and make new friends
A fun and challenging two days mountain biking
Cost for the camp is $230. Please note our refund policy
Chocolate Foot is covered by its own Public Liability Insurance. You are responsible for your own Personal Injury Insurance and Ambulance Cover.
Final information will be sent by email to all participants two weeks prior to the camps
How do I know which camp is best for my child?
This can be a tricky thing to determine, and we really want to help you get this right in order for your child have the best and most productive time possible during the camps!
Your child may have already attended our MTB Fundamentals for Kids and Obstacles, Jumps & Drops clinics, however this attendance does not necessarily mean that they are ready for the intermediate camp. If they felt that their existing skills were reinforced by the skills taught and found the level of the trail ride to be easily within their capabilities, then they are most likely good candidates for the intermediate camp. If they found that the skills taught in the MTB Fundamentals clinic was new to them in terms of understanding how to ride a bike off road, and they found the trail ride challenging but are excited to get some more experience on the trail, then they will be perfect candidates for the novice camp.
If you're unsure as to whether your child is ready for the intermediate camp, then it's better to choose the novice camp, as they'll progress more quickly and have more fun if they don't feel out of their depth.
You can use our skills comptency questionnaire which should assist you in assessing your child's suitability for either camp.
