School Holiday Trail Skills Sessions

Shred Sessions for Kids: Welcome

New for this summer! Our school holiday trail skills sessions are 3 hour guided adventure rides for intermediate or advanced (for their age) riders.

The focus is on putting into practice what they might have learned with us previously, meet other young riders, and go for a safe but challenging supervised ride with Chocolate Foot’s instructors to build skills and confidence on the trail. The maximum group size will be limited to 5 riders with 1 instructor.

We’re offering two levels of group ride:

Intermediate (age 10 - 14) for riders with well developed trail riding skills and who are able to do most of the following:

  • Ride for 3 hours (with regular water, snack and chat stops). We’ll also be stopping to talk through the more technical sections and session them, so the pace, when averaged out, is not fast.

  • Descend moderately steep terrain as well as be able to climb moderately steep grades.

  • Perform basic wheel lifts.

  • Have good brake control and be confident in the use of front and rear brake in the right circumstances.

  • Have a hardtail or full suspension mountain bike in good mechanical condition and suited to intermediate (blue) level trail conditions.

  • Have personal protective gear including a helmet & gloves. Knee and elbow guards are also highly recommended.

Dates:

  • Tuesday 14 December 2021, 1.00-4.00pm - FULL

  • Thursday 16 December 2021, 8.30-11.30am - FULL

  • Friday 21 January 2022, 8.30-11.30am - FULL

Advanced (age 12 - 16) for riders with highly developed trail riding skills and who are able to do most of the following:

  • Ride for 3 hours (with regular water, snack and chat stops). We’ll be stopping to talk through the more difficult sections and session them, but in between those sections, riders should be able to keep a reasonable pace and be able to ride confidently without a great deal of individual guidance.

  • Descend steeper terrain as well as be able to climb steeper grades.

  • Perform wheel lifts, ride small/medium sized drops and jumps with consistency.

  • Have very good brake control and be confident in the use of front and rear brake in the right circumstances.

  • Have a hardtail or full suspension mountain bike in good mechanical condition suited to advanced (single black diamond) trail conditions.

  • Have personal protective gear including a helmet, gloves, knee and elbow guards.

The trails that will be chosen to ride can be tailored to the ability of the group but will be located in and around the Northern Beaches. We anticipate these rides will sell out quickly so book now to avoid disappointment.
