Singletrack Mind Series

... for anyone obsessed with singletrack

Round One

Kiwarrak State Forest, Taree, hosted by Manning Great Lakes Tip Riders - Sunday 28 April 2013

MGLTR-125

The Venue

The venue for this round of the SRAM Singletrack Mind Series is Kiwarrak State Forest on the outskirts of Taree on the lower mid north coast of NSW. Taree is only 3 hours from the edge of Sydney and is a stress free and easy drive on the freeway. Kiwarrak boasts over 40km of singletrack so if you want to ride in the days before or after the event, there’s plenty to keep you occupied.

Check out this story on the Kiwarrak trails in Mountain Biking Australia Magazine, May 2013

The Course

The Kiwarrak race loop is 10.25km of signature trails; that is, fast and flowing. The biggest issue riders will have in this race is holding themselves back from pinning their ears back and wearing themselves out, going as hard and as fast as they can! There is only 170m of gentle climbing each lap which will be enough to reward those riders that have been training hard. It’s an iron clad guarantee that riders will be grinning at the end of each lap and itching for another one!

The GPS trace of the proposed race loop can be found here, and check out the preview vid of the awesome trails below!

Bonus Series Points

Don't forget that there are 40 Bonus Series Points on offer at Taree! More info here.

Entries

Entries for Round 1 of the Singletrack Mind Series are available here and will close at midnight on Wednesday 24 April. We are not accepting any entries on the day, however substitute riders are allowed. All substitute riders must download, fill out and bring the Replacement Rider Form to Registration. If your new rider is not a MTBA member they will need to pay $20 (cash only) for a MTBA day licence even if the rider they are replacing has already paid for a day licence online – the insurance policy always stays with the individual. Day licences are not transferable BUT the unused day licence will be refunded to the rider who originally paid for it in online entry – minus a buck ($1) for administration.

Directions

If arriving from the south on the Pacific Highway, take the first (Southern) Taree exit and continue straight through two roundabouts heading west on the Bucketts Way. Entry to Lantana Crossing Road is off the Bucketts Way approximately 0.75km on the left after the Taree Tip entrance (Bucketts Way Landfill halfway between Tinonee & Taree South).

The race event centre is approximately 1km after you turn into Lantana Crossing Road. There will be event signage to follow from the Bucketts Way.

You will exit in the same way, and will only be able to TURN LEFT. Please be aware that the exit from Lantana Crossing back onto the Bucketts Way needs extreme caution due to poor traffic visibility.

Check out this Google Map for exact location and to find directions from other approaches.
