Singletrack Mind Series

... for anyone obsessed with singletrack

Round Two

scum-logo-stmCoondoo Road, Nowra, hosted by South Coast United Mountainbikers - Sunday 29 May 2011

South Coast United Mountainbikers

South Coast United Mountainbikers (SCUM) is a mountain bike club based in the Shoalhaven area on the NSW south coast. Formed in 2004, SCUM aims to foster cross country and downhill mountain biking at both competitive and social levels. Surrounded by some awesome State Forests, SCUM currently have four cross country trails and a five minute downhill track. There are also numerous rugged firetrails and powerline easements around the area that link together to provide some great rides, whether you're looking for a quick spin or a full day in the bush.

The Course

The venue for Round 2 of the SRAM Singletrack Mind Series is Coondoo Road, in Currambene State Forest near Nowra.

Located 15 minutes South of Nowra, Coondoo is the original home of SCUM's Endurance races. With a couple of small changes in altitude and plenty of course variation this is one of the jewels in SCUM's crown. It's a regular venue on SCUM's XC race calendar as well as being utilised for their endurance events.

A GPS trace of the proposed course can be found here.

Check out the awesome Coondoo Road track with the crew from SCUM!

This area is approximately 100m from the Event Centre and no parking is available in the Event Centre on Saturday or Sunday. You will be able to set up your race tents for forest for the next day, however we do not recommend you camp in the forest itself due to the danger of falling branches. Series T-Shirt

front-150-webTo remind you of many great days on the bike, we’ve worked with our designer to produce a corker of a t-shirt that tells the world what’s on, or should we say what’s in your mind – your singletrack mind! This striking design is available to order with event entry for the princely sum of $23, and you’ll pick it up at Rego. We'll also have some available to purchase at the event for $25 (cash only). Available in any colour you like as long as it’s green, but it does come in both mens and ladies styles. Check out a larger image here! (Note: if you've already entered and wish to add a t-shirt to your order, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and we'll tell you how.)

Accommodation & Dining

There are plenty of great accommodation and dining options in nearby Nowra and Jervis Bay. See the Shoalhaven Holidays website for more details.

Directions

Coming from Sydney/Wollongong: Drive through Nowra, after approx 10km look for Comberton Grange Rd on the left (which turns to gravel soon after a short distance). After 850 metres turn left onto Western Rd (also unsealed). Keep going for about a kilometre and you’ll find yourself at the Event Centre. Note: This is the only access on the weekend – please do not attempt to use the Forest Road entrance as that road will be closed (and is deeply rutted & boggy).

Coming from the South: 2.4km after the Jervis Bay Rd intersection look for Comberton Grange Rd on the right. Then as above.
