... for anyone obsessed with singletrack
The Finish Line Singletrack Mind Series ... for anyone obsessed with singletrack!
The Finish Line Singletrack Mind Series features five mountain bike endurance events of 7 hours duration, and in 2014 features a brand new 4 hour option for solo riders.
They take place at five different locations in NSW and ACT, each one renowned for its flowing singletrack and fun factor. Our aim is to provide a great day's racing for riders of all levels, on courses that are challenging, rewarding and, most of all, fun!
The Series is being made possible by the kind cooperation of our hosts, five great mountain bike clubs, and we are looking forward to working together with them to bring you this singletrack extravaganza!
There's solo and relay teams categories and riders will complete laps of a course ranging from 8km to 12km in length. The category winners will have the highest number of laps completed at the event cut off time.
We've got everything you could need for a great day out on the bike: fantastic prizes, kids' racing, plus plenty of chances to win schwag with spot prizes and competitions. Series mascots Gumby and Pokey will be making special appearances throughout the day.
Round 1, 18 May: The highly-acclaimed trails at Taree were a fantastic venue for the Series opener last year and we'll be kicking off the year once again at Kiwarrak State Forest. Last year's event helped firmly put the Taree trails on the mountain biking map and the local club gain support from Council. We've received overwhelming demand from riders to head back there this year - how could we deny you the Taree Tip Trails?!
Round 2, 15 June: Our first new venue for 2014 is on the NSW South Coast, the area offers a plethora of singletrack with glorious beaches on its doorstep, and there are two words that are synonymous with this venue ... "Snake Track". For the unaware, the fantastic trails crafted by the Eurobodalla Cyclists at Maulbrooks MTB Park, Mogo will host Round 2 of the Series. While the aforementioned Snake Track is arguably the jewel in the crown, the rest of the 12km loop will have you grinning as you ride its flowing corners and fun descents.
Round 3, 3 August: Awaba MTB Park is a perennial favourite and there is no question why - you'll be in singletrack heaven as you rail its perfectly formed corners, rumble across bridges and glide through groves of rainforest. 'Nuff said.
Round 4, 31 August: The fast and flowy Coondoo Road trails in Nowra will be home to this round, hosted by the South Coast Mountainbikers. The course offers a bunch of different options for course setting, and while it’s great for the novice rider more experienced riders tell us it’s a tough one to ride consistently fast. Coondoo is now the only venue that has featured in every edition of the Series!
Round 5, 19 October: Kinross was the Series Finale in 2013 and riders couldn't get enough of the fantastic trails that made up the race loop - fun factor was off the chart with the 1km descent at the end of the lap leaving you grinning from ear to ear. With so much on offer in the region (riding, eating, drinking, stunning countryside), it's a no-brainer to head back to Orange for our 2014 Series Finale!
