Footprint: Chocolate Foot News, May 2010
Dear All
It seems like so long ago since we sent out our last issue of Footprint, so much has happened, so much sleep has been lost but we wouldn't change it for the world! The vibe at the first event and the great feedback we have received has made all the hard work very satisfying but we couldn't have done it without you - the riders who came and made the day so enjoyable and fun!
2010 SRAM Singletrack Mind Series – Protected by Brave Soldier

Round 1 – 18 April, Lidsdale State Forest
With so many other events on that weekend we were wondering if we'd be sitting in the forest by ourselves playing cards all day but we were stoked that 243 riders rocked up and raced damn hard for 8 hours solid!
Check out our event report, the Chocolate Wrapper, and also read a few of the comments from competitors and supporters. A race report was featured on SBS Cycling Central, the event made Prime TV News, and a few of the blogs we’ve come across reporting on the event include Enduro Magazine, Josh Carlson for The Cycling Tribe, and Team Swell-Redshift Racing.
Full results can be found here, and race photos and the video showing the race action can be found in our Gallery.

Round 2 – 16 May, Coondoo Road, Nowra
With the second round of the Series fast approaching on Sunday 16 May, we’ve been getting out and riding our very own local track, Coondoo Road, as much as possible and can confidently report that SCUM have put together an awesome track for this event! Check out our gallery for a couple of preview videos, however we don’t recommend you take the lines shown by Crissy the dog – not only will it get you disqualified for corner cutting, but stopping at every muddy puddle along the way for a drink and to cool your feet will do your racing no good whatsoever!
We’re happy to announce that we have slashed the price for Junior Fours teams to $80 per team ($120 for the final round). We're all about encouraging younger kids to get into racing and we hope a cheaper race entry will make this easier on the family budget! A number of Shoalhaven schools have done very well at National schools MTB championships and we'll be expecting the Vincentia High team to set the pace. When you're forming your teams just have a quick read of the MTBA age rules for juniors here.
Don’t forget, series points are calculated using each team or solo rider's highest results from four rounds of the Series. So, if you didn’t make it to Lidsdale (or had a shocker), you are still in the running for overall series glory! And,Round 2 is not only the Singlespeed Special Category Championship for solo riders, it’s also the Australian Defence Force’s annual Enduro Championship, so we look forward to crowning these new champions at Presentation!
Entry for Round 2 closes at midnight on Wednesday 12 May. That means you have less than a week to sort out your teams and get entered! Sorry, but no on the day entries ... no, really! You can however register a substitute rider at race rego - please download, print and complete our Replacement Rider Form and bring it with you. See the Entries webpage for more info.
All the info on camping, event services, draft schedule etc. is now available on the website and will be updated with final details on Thursday 13 May.
Here’s a great option to get a ride in on the way to Nowra and support a charity – the McGees are hosting a fundraising race for Camp Quality. It's on Saturday 15 May based out of their property 'Twin Falls' at Fitzroy Falls. Info and entry details on the Camp Quality website.
